Tracing Ireland’s Population (TIP) allows the public to play a role in the contact tracing process. It enables the public to enter their known close contacts before a test even takes place. By removing this workload from contact tracing centers, TIP enables these resources to be placed elsewhere.
The app is a two-step process that initially qualifies the user through a symptom checker. Based on the user’s information, the app determines the likelihood that the user is a potential Covid-19 case. This allows those with a high likelihood of being positive for Covid-19 to enter a contact tracing suite to identify their known close contacts. The identified close contacts are notified immediately of exposure to a potential Covid-19 case. The app user is provided with HSE (health service executive) guidelines of the testing application process.
This project offers a solution that:
The app has been funded by the European Open Science Cloud Secretariat, a European Commission open science initiative. EOSCsecretariat.eu has received funding from the European Union's Horizon Programme call H2020-INFRAEOSC-05-2018-2019, grant Agreement number 831644. Dr Paul Byrnes is the principal investigator for the feasibility of developing this app.
