The DFG White Paper "The Digital Turn in the Sciences and Humanities” results from an intensive exploration and discussion of the impact of digital technologies on academic research. It presents the key characteristics and consequences of the digital turn and identifies fields of action for the DFG. The major impact of digital technologies can be explained by two main factors: a rapid growth in research data and a strong increase in the use of software. The DFG will intensify its engagement in supporting the scientific communities to make use of the new technologies.
