The Iron Gates region in Serbia yielded abundant and exceptional evidence of human habitation in the Mesolithic and Early Neolithic periods (c. 9500-5500 BC). At the Mesolithic sites, remains were discovered of plants, animals, structures and tools testifying to the intensive exploitation of resources from the surroundings of the settlements that were used over extended periods of time. Our paper explores the daily sustenance of these communities wich was provided through gathering, fishing and hunting.
