    "description": "<p><strong>RESUMEN</strong></p>\n\n<p><strong>Introducci&oacute;n</strong>: Las &aacute;reas verdes urbanas son fundamentales para la vida en las ciudades, cumplen importantes funciones y brindan beneficios sociales y ambientales, como proporcionar h&aacute;bitat y refugio para las aves silvestres. El objetivo de este trabajo fue la caracterizaci&oacute;n de la avifauna de las &aacute;reas verdes de la localidad urbana de Barrio 18 Xochimilco, sitio privilegiado que a&uacute;n conserva parte de la vida silvestre de la zona. &nbsp;<br>\n&nbsp;<br>\n<strong>Metodolog&iacute;a</strong>: Se realizaron muestreos en 10 &aacute;reas verdes durante el periodo anual 2015-2016. El muestreo se llev&oacute; a cabo a trav&eacute;s de la identificaci&oacute;n y conteo de especies, mediante el m&eacute;todo de b&uacute;squeda intensiva. &nbsp;<br>\n&nbsp;<br>\n<strong>Resultados</strong>: Se registraron un total de 67 especies, entre residentes (60%), migratorias (30%) y otras; pertenecientes a 53 g&eacute;neros, 26 familias y 10 &oacute;rdenes. La riqueza y abundancia fueron fluctuantes; el per&iacute;odo de secas present&oacute; la mayor riqueza y abundancia en comparaci&oacute;n con el de lluvias, revelando la importancia del componente migratorio. Los gremios alimenticos mejor representados fueron los insect&iacute;voros (22=35%) y gran&iacute;voros (17=27%). &nbsp;<br>\n&nbsp;<br>\n<strong>Conclusiones</strong>: Se concluye que las &aacute;reas verdes de esta colonia funcionan como h&aacute;bitat-isla principalmente para las especies de aves residentes pero tambi&eacute;n para las migratorias.</p>\n\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n\n<p><strong>ABSTRACT</strong></p>\n\n<p><strong>Introduction</strong>: Urban green spaces are fundamental for life in cities, they fulfill important functions and provide social and environmental benefits, such as providing habitat and refuge for wild birds. The objective of this work was the characterization of the avifauna of the green spaces of the urban area of Barrio 18 Xochimilco, a privileged site that still conserves part of the wildlife of the area.&nbsp;<br>\n&nbsp;<br>\n<strong>Methodology</strong>: Samples were taken in 10 green spaces during the 2015-2016 period. The sampling was carried out through the identification and counting of species, through the intensive search method.&nbsp;<br>\n&nbsp;<br>\n<strong>Results</strong>: A total of 67 species were registered, among residents (60%), migratory (30%) and others; belonging to 53 genera, 26 families and 10 orders. Wealth and abundance were fluctuating; The dry period presented the greatest wealth and abundance compared to the rainy season, revealing the importance of the migratory component. The best represented food guilds were insectivores (22 = 35%) and granivores (17 = 27%).&nbsp;<br>\n&nbsp;<br>\n<strong>Conclusions</strong>: It is concluded that the green spaces of this colony function as island-habitat mainly for resident bird species but also for migratory birds.</p>",
