"abstract": "
Incorrect values of cable harmonic impedance can
\nlead to wrong conclusions when assessing an impact of current
\ndistortion on the power network. A theoretical derivation
\nof resistance and reactance for harmonic frequencies is not
\nsufficient as it neglects operating conditions of cables as well
\nas their configuration and actual installation pattern. In this
\npaper, a noninvasive procedure for estimating parameters of the
\nlow-voltage cable is proposed. On contrary to invasive methods,
\nthe proposed technique does not require any external sources
\nof harmonic excitation, and consequently, it does not introduce
\nadditional disturbances to the system. A disconnection of the
\ncable is not required as the procedure meant to be performed
\nonline. The methodology employs natural variations of harmonic
\ncurrents and voltages; however, the impedance angle is preserved
\ndue to the utilization of synchronized measurement samples. The
\ndeveloped signal processing algorithm provides noise reduction
\ncapabilities and smoothing of the output in presence of fluctuating
\nharmonics. In addition, an attention is given to the metrological
\ncharacterization of the measurement system and evaluation of
\nuncertainty of impedance values. The results of the laboratory
\nexperiment indicate that for selective harmonics the variations
\nof impedance estimates are no more than 10 mOhm, which is in the
\nrange of calculated uncertainty values. The practical applicability
\nof the method is discussed together with its limitations.
",
