This deliverable presents initial research conducted on the design of citizen science tasks, with a particular focus on the domain of pollution. We present a typology of task characteristics and properties, as well as associated input devices and affordances, drawn from a large-scale survey of citizen science projects. From this large sample, we identified 81 projects with a pollution-focus, which we classify according to the developed typology. We further present initial research conducted on the question of task design as completed by the ACTION consortium.
