The results indicate that closure duration is a primary cue to the perception of tense and lax stops in intervocalic position, but not in word-initial position.</p>\n\n<p>In this position, VOT was found to be an important cue to the perception of these two categories. Contrary to expectations, burst amplitude does not play a role. These phonetic findings support the geminate analysis of tense consonants proposed by Han (1992), where intervocalic tense consonants occupy two timing slots and word-initial ones have only one.</p>", "language": "eng", "title": "Perceptual cues for Korean tense and lax consonants", "license": { "id": "other-nc" }, "notes": "This paper is copyrighted, and is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) - see https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/", "relations": { "version": [ { "count": 1, "index": 0, "parent": { "pid_type": "recid", "pid_value": "3734902" }, "is_last": true, "last_child": { "pid_type": "recid", "pid_value": "3734903" } } ] }, "publication_date": "1994-12-12", "creators": [ { "affiliation": "Cornell University", "name": "Han, Jeong-Im" } ], "access_right": "open", "resource_type": { "subtype": "workingpaper", "type": "publication", "title": "Working paper" }, "related_identifiers": [ { "scheme": "doi", "identifier": "10.5281/zenodo.3734902", "relation": "isVersionOf" } ] } }
