In 2016 many new
\n360-degree cameras and VR headsets entered the consumer market.
\nDistribution platforms are being established and new production studios
\nare emerging. VR is a hot topic in research and industry, and many new
\nand exciting interactive VR content and experiences are emerging. The
\nbiggest gap we see in these experiences is the lack of social and shared
\naspects of VR usage, as today’s VR applications tend to be an isolated
\nendeavour. In this paper, we present TogetherVR, a web-based
\nframework for the creation and evaluation of social and shared VR
\nexperiences in which users can communicate with a high degree of
\npresence and in photo-realistic video quality. We further elaborate on three
\nmulti-user VR cases: watching TV together in VR, social collaboration in
\nVR, and social VR conferencing in a mixed reality setting.
", "language": "eng", "title": "TogetherVR: A Framework for Photorealistic Shared Media Experiences in 360-Degree VR", "license": { "id": "CC-BY-4.0" }, "journal": { "volume": "127", "issue": "7", "title": "SMPTE Motion Imaging Journal" }, "relations": { "version": [ { "count": 1, "index": 0, "parent": { "pid_type": "recid", "pid_value": "3730556" }, "is_last": true, "last_child": { "pid_type": "recid", "pid_value": "3730557" } } ] }, "grants": [ { "code": "762111", "links": { "self": "https://zenodo.org/api/grants/10.13039/501100000780::762111" }, "title": "An end-to-end system for the production and delivery of photorealistic social immersive virtual reality experiences", "acronym": "VRTogether", "program": "H2020", "funder": { "doi": "10.13039/501100000780", "acronyms": [], "name": "European Commission", "links": { "self": "https://zenodo.org/api/funders/10.13039/501100000780" } } } ], "version": "pre-print", "communities": [ { "id": "vrtogether-h2020" } ], "publication_date": "2018-08-01", "creators": [ { "name": "Martin J.
