Abstract: Economic systemic change is required to move past the environmental crisis. But what does changing the economic system actually mean and look like? Viewed through an effective altruism lens, what needs to change and how might effective altruists contribute to such change? This talk will review employed, planned, and theorized, approaches to tackling climate and environmental degradation crises. Finally, we will discuss the most pressing unresolved questions in this field, including how to act when risk and impact quantification is difficult and plagued by many deep uncertainties.
This event was hosted by Effective Altruism Netherlands in Utrecht, Netherlands on 2020-02-22.
