<dc:description>A discussion of the "Diversity Debate" in the Digital Humanities, with particular reference to DH 2016. Chapter compares DH as a paradiscipline to area disciplines such as Medieval Studies and argues a) that "Diversity" cannot be distinguished from "Quality" within the Digital Humanities; and b) even if it could, "Diversity" would be more important than "Quality" for the progress of the field. Concludes with a discussion on the importance (and ethics) of discussing ostensibly private or closed debates among "gatekeeper" committees within DH, arguing that such conversations have played an outsized role in the development of the field and must be treated as a core part of the discipline's history. </dc:description>
