    "description": "<p>Obtaining reliable structural parameters for the different components of galaxies is important for a wide variety of studies of galaxy properties and evolution. I will present our current work on the bulge-disk decomposition of approximately 13000 GAMA galaxies in the nearby universe (z smaller than 0.08) in all 9 optical and near-infrared bands covered by KiDS and VIKING. The galaxy profiling itself uses the 2-dimensional Bayesian profile fitting code ProFit (Robotham et al. 2016) while the preparatory work (image segmentation/source identification, sky subtraction, initial parameter estimates) is carried out using the sister package ProFound (Robotham et al. 2018). The local PSF is estimated using a combination of ProFound and ProFit to identify stars near the galaxy of interest and fit them with a Moffat function. These decompositions will be used to derive the stellar mass functions of bulges and disks and study the nature and distribution of dust in galaxy disks.</p>",
