Linking ArchivesSpace Hierarchy to DSpace Digital Objects

  • 1. Georgetown University Library, United States of America

Description

The Georgetown University Library uses DSpace to publish digital copies of items in our archival collections. The archival objects are described in ArchivesSpace. The ArchivesSpace public user interface (PUI) allows a researcher to navigate an archival hierarchy of objects. When a digital representation of an item exists, the user should be presented with a link to the digital object. The Georgetown University Library developed a workflow to ensure that all digital archival objects published in DSpace are linked from the ArchivesSpace PUI. This workflow was constructed from the following open-source components: • ArchivesSpace features • DSpace features • Harvard's Excel Importer for ArchivesSpace • Georgetown University Library File Analyzer
