This article is the second stage in a series of works which aims to analyse the interpretation of cuando and of quand throughout the history of spanish and french grammaticography when they appear in such phrases as lo haré cuando vengas / je le ferai quand tu viendras or cuando oyó el ruido, se sobresaltó / quand il entendit le bruit, il sursauta. A corpus of 32 french and spanish grammar books published in the 19th century has been examined accordingly. The vision of the spanish grammarians, more often polarized in the previous centuries, widens to take into account not only the adverbial and conjunctive dimensions but also sometimes the relative dimension of cuando, while the french grammarians stay for the majority centered on the conjunctive dimension of quand, which is not so dissimilar to the present day with the conjunctive interpretation dominating on the french side whereas the adverbial and relative dimensions are emphasized on the spanish side, not withstanding the conjunctive dimension.
