The first record of the roe deer, Capreolus capreolus (Linnaeus, 1758), in the Alicante province is announced. This species was identified by phototrapping in one of the mountainous regions located to the north of this territory. The different hypothesis of recolonization of the species in the area are also considered, being the most plausible the natural reintroduction by expansion of the populations coming from neighbouring provinces.
