# NHERI-SimCenter/smelt: smelt v1.2.0

Michael Gardner

Stochastic, Modular, and Extensible Library for Time histories

What is smelt?

smelt is a C++ library for stochastically generating time histories for different types of natural hazards--for example, acceleration time histories for earthquake scenarios or velocity time histories for wind loading. The library has been designed with modularity and extensiblity in mind such that new models can be easily added, making them available in other software that uses smelt.

More detailed information, including building instructions, are available in the repository wiki.

v1.2.0 Release Notes

New in this release:

• New earthquake model for simulating near-fault ground motions using Dabaghi and Der Kiureghian (2018) - "Simulation of orthogonal horizontal components of near-fault ground motion for specified EQ source and site characteristics". This model allows for simulating directivity in synthetic motions.
• Packaging of smelt on SimCenter BinTray account so that it is available for use by other applications through conan

The SimCenter is supported by a grant from the National Science Foundation (#1612843)
