It is the third species of this cestode genus described from monitor lizards. <em>Oochoristica varanicola</em> differs from other species from <em>Varanus</em>, as well as from the numerous other species in the genus by a unique combination of characters that include a high number of testes (92-134) and a long cirrus-sac (225-290 x 63-90&nbsp;&micro;m). Both the host and the locality are new records for the genus <em>Oochoristica</em>.</p>",
