Über Liebe. Kants Auseinandersetzung mit den biblischen Geboten der Gottesliebe, der Nächstenliebe und der Selbstliebe

Creators

Description

In recent scholarship some interpreters

argue that Kant’s account of love can be understood

only in light of its biblical sources. However they still

fail to provide a detailed analysis of these sources and

their influence on Kant. Other interpreters ignore

Kant’s explicit references to these sources and examine

Kant’s doctrine of love solely in ethical terms.

The paper aims to balance both sides of the debate,

claiming that Kant’s theory of the moral feeling of

love as formulated in the Doctrine of Virtue is significantly

influenced by Kant’s long-lasting examination

of the biblical approach of love.
