Picatrix a Schifanoia: un’interpretazione magico- astrologica del Salone dei Mesi
Creators
Description
Picatrix is a magic and astrological text,
written in Arabic in the middle of the 11th century.
The original arabic manuscript ("the aim of the wise")
was translated into Spanish (1256) by order of
Alfonso "el Sabio" and then, sometime later, into Latin.
But Picatrix is also an important source of
Schifanoia's frescoes. The article will try to understand
the "philosophy" of Picatrix and to explain why
this magic manuscript has so influenced the astrological
"plot" of the frescoes.
