    <dct:description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;How can we measure the state of openness of research? Why are responsible research indicators important? What role do institutional managers play in adopting them?&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Among others, these questions were discussed in this webinar hosted by&amp;nbsp;&lt;em&gt;Charlotte Wien&lt;/em&gt;, Head of&amp;nbsp;&lt;a href="https://libereurope.eu/strategy/innovative-scholarly-communication/metrics/"&gt;LIBER&amp;rsquo;s Innovative Metrics Working Group&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Our speakers were&amp;nbsp;&lt;em&gt;Isabella Peters&lt;/em&gt;&amp;nbsp;(ZBW Leibniz Information Centre for Economics) and&amp;nbsp;&lt;em&gt;Sarah Slowe&lt;/em&gt;&amp;nbsp;(University of Kent).&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;After a brief introduction of the work of LIBER&amp;rsquo;s Innovative Metrics Working Group by&amp;nbsp;&lt;em&gt;Charlotte Wien&lt;/em&gt;,&amp;nbsp;&lt;em&gt;Isabella Peters&lt;/em&gt;&amp;nbsp;talked about various approaches that both quantitatively and qualitatively measure the state of openness of research. Her presentation&amp;nbsp;also discussed reasons that may motivate open science assessment frameworks and whether they tackle the concept &amp;ldquo;openness&amp;rdquo; appropriately.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Our second speaker,&amp;nbsp;&lt;em&gt;Sarah Slowe&lt;/em&gt;, looked at responsible metrics and why management matters. This presentation covered why responsible research indicators are important and the role that institutional managers have in their adoption. She outlined the various approaches being adopted by institutions, including&amp;nbsp;&lt;a href="https://sfdora.org/"&gt;DORA&lt;/a&gt;, the&amp;nbsp;&lt;a href="http://www.leidenmanifesto.org/"&gt;Leiden Manifesto&lt;/a&gt;&amp;nbsp;and the&amp;nbsp;&lt;a href="https://responsiblemetrics.org/the-metric-tide/"&gt;Metric Tide&lt;/a&gt;, and then discussed key information that institutional managers need to consider in using research metrics to inform institutional policy.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;</dct:description>
