This report is the outcome of the workshop Exploring Gendered Dimensions of Welfare in China and the Nordic Region held by the Sino-Nordic Gender Studies Network and NIAS – Nordic Institute of Asian Studies, the University of Copenhagen at the Danish Cultural Center in Beijing in March 2019. The occasion was the May 2017 collaboration agreement between the People’s Republic of China and the Nordic Council of Ministers representing the five Nordic countries - Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway and Iceland. The aim of the workshop was to support and develop the commitment to gender equality and social justice in relation to the Sino-Nordic exchange, with a particular focus on one of the five areas of the 2017 Sino-Nordic collaboration agreement, namely welfare solutions.

In this report three workshop groups provide recommendations that qualify and expand knowledge on the relationship between gender and welfare solutions and they identify areas where further study is recommended and participants may collaborate in order to develop further knowledge on Sino-Nordic welfare issues.

The specific topics of the three group recommendations are:

Parenting, family policy and gender

Feminist Activism

Welfare State and Feminist Transnational Knowledge Production
