"description": "
The advent of the Internet has been opening new
\nopportunities for Local Public Administrations (LPAs) to
\nimprove their efficiency while providing better services to citizens
\nvia an ever larger set of specialized network applications,
\nincluding e-government, e-health, and more. Indeed, as a
\npotential channel of accessing personal information, these
\nspecialized applications also expose the public sector to new risks.
\nThe cybersecurity landscape is changing, and Local Public
\nAdministrations are rapidly becoming an attractive target for
\ncybercriminals, who might access some sets of personal data or
\ngain control over smartly operated city resources through LPAs
\ninfrastructures. The consequences of cyber-threats have the
\npotential to be considerable causing business interruptions, data
\nlosses, and thefts of intellectual property, significantly impacting
\nboth individuals and organizations. This paper provides an
\noverview of the EU H2020 COMPACT (Competitive Methods to
\nprotect local Public Administration from Cyber security Threats)
\nproject, that aims to increase LPAs awareness, skills, and
\nprotection against cyber threats through risk assessment, gamebased
\neducation, monitoring and knowledge sharing services that
\nare highly usable, interoperable with major Commercial Off-
\nThe-Shelf (COTS) solutions, cloud-enabled and cloud-ready.
",
