Time critical applications

EGI is by far the largest multidisciplinary High Throughput Compute federation in the world, comprising more than 300 data centres and 770,000 computing cores across 56 countries. The infrastructure is operated locally primarily at universities and research laboratories in Europe but also in Africa and Arabia, the Asia Pacific region, North and South America. The purpose is to be part of an open system of interoperable e- Infrastructure through cooperation agreements.

In this talk we will introduce EGI e-Infrastructure and its FedCloud technology. In particular, we will focus on handling the time critical services with EGI -- how are those services managed and what are the challenging issues. Some use case examples will be discussed like the use of the FedCloud resources by the EMSODEV project to build and develop a Data management platform for (near) real-time monitoring of different ocean parameters. Also future direction and roadmap will be discussed.
