Die Malerei und das Textile im Werk von Paul Klee. Eine Betrachtung bis zu den Weimarer Bauhausjahren

Creators

Description

In the much researched oeuvre of the artist Paul Klee, the significance of textiles for his practical work with regard to the further development of his painting in the 1920s is questioned for the first time. The influence of his involvement with textiles as well as with textile artists at the Bauhaus will be examined. The exemplary image analyses from the period 1914-1925 show how the textile as an ancient, technology-related and functionally determined surface art became the starting point of an aesthetic model. It shows how the painter Paul Klee acquired the principles of textile design and the mode of action of textile materiality, which were determined by material and technique.
