NIGENS anechoic earsignals ========================== This dataset contains earsignals in different scene setups from the Neural Information processing group GENeral Sounds database, simulated using KEMAR HRTFs. A list of all sounds is enclosed. These sounds have been processed with the Binaural Simulator of the Two!Ears System (https://github.com/TWOEARS), using KEMAR head HRTFs [1] to produce the following scenes: Distance head -- source: 3m Azimuths (with respect to nose): 0°, 22.5°, 45°, 67.5°, 90°, 112.5°, 135°, 180°, 202.5°, 225°, 247.5°, 270°, 292.5°, 315°, 337.5° [1] Wierstorf, Hagen, Matthias Geier, and Sascha Spors. "A free database of head related impulse response measurements in the horizontal plane with multiple distances." Audio Engineering Society Convention 130. Audio Engineering Society, 2011. ## Usage (1.) Extract the files using the following command: ```Bash $ cat nigensKemarEarsignals.tar.gz.* | tar xzvf - ``` (2a.) If you want to use the earsignals directly, navigate into the IdSimConvRoomWrapper directory and choose the subdirectory corresponding to the scene setup of your choice: they are named "cache.KEMAR_anech-3m-_azm-_ofs". Inside, find one mat file for each original sound. Mat files contain two variables, "earSout", the earsignals corresponding to this sound and scene configuration, and "annotations", a struct containing event on- and offset information (note that for the sounds of the "general" class there are no on- and offsets annotated), event type information, and azimuth information. (2b.) If you want to use the earsignals through the Auditory Machine Learning Training and Testing Pipeline (AMLTTP) -- available at https://github.com/TWOEARS/Auditory-Machine-Learning-Training-and-Testing-Pipeline --, you have to setup the directory you extracted in as your cache directory, or move the extracted IdSimConvRoomWrapper into your existing cache directory. Also since you do not have the original files, set ```matlab pipe.checkFileExistence = false; ``` ## Credits The NIGENS database was developed by Ivo Trowitzsch, Jalil Taghia and Youssef Kashef from Technische Universität Berlin. ## License This dataset is released under the [Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/) license. The speech sounds are compiled from the GRID and TIMIT copora, freely available for research use.
