They are found as insoluble aggregates in&nbsp;senile plaques, the histopathological hallmark of the disease. These peptides are also found in soluble, mostly&nbsp;monomeric and dimeric, forms in the interstitial and cerebrospinal fluid. Due to the combination of several&nbsp;enzymatic activities during APP processing, A&beta;&nbsp; peptides exist in multiple isoforms possessing different N-termini&nbsp;and C-termini. These peptides include, to a certain extent, part of the juxtamembrane and transmembrane domain&nbsp;of APP. Besides differences in size, post-translational modifications of A&beta; &ndash;&nbsp; including oxidation, phosphorylation,&nbsp;nitration, racemization, isomerization, pyroglutamylation, and glycosylation &ndash;&nbsp; generate a plethora of peptides with&nbsp;different physiological and pathological properties that may modulate disease progression.</p></dct:description> <dct:accessRights rdf:resource="http://publications.europa.eu/resource/authority/access-right/PUBLIC"/> <dct:accessRights> <dct:RightsStatement rdf:about="info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess"> <rdfs:label>Open Access</rdfs:label> </dct:RightsStatement> </dct:accessRights> <dcat:distribution> <dcat:Distribution> <dct:license rdf:resource="https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode"/> <dcat:accessURL rdf:resource="https://zenodo.org/record/16477"/> </dcat:Distribution> </dcat:distribution> <dcat:distribution> <dcat:Distribution> <dcat:accessURL>https://doi.org/10.1186/alzrt258</dcat:accessURL> <dcat:byteSize>862178</dcat:byteSize> <dcat:downloadURL>https://zenodo.org/record/16477/files/Kummer_AlzResTher_2014-P21.pdf</dcat:downloadURL> <dcat:mediaType>application/pdf</dcat:mediaType> </dcat:Distribution> </dcat:distribution> </rdf:Description> <foaf:Project rdf:about="info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/EC/FP7/278850/"> <dct:identifier rdf:datatype="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema#string">278850</dct:identifier> <dct:title>Imaging of Neuroinflammation in Neurodegenerative Diseases</dct:title> <frapo:isAwardedBy> <foaf:Organization> <dct:identifier rdf:datatype="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema#string">10.13039/501100000780</dct:identifier> <foaf:name>European Commission</foaf:name> </foaf:Organization> </frapo:isAwardedBy> </foaf:Project> </rdf:RDF>
