Description
We performed an experiment which investigated the preferred listening position
in a 5.0 surround setup out of nine different positions while listening to a
classical piece of music.
The test was performed by binaural synthesis in order to allow instantaneous
switching between the different positions and was performed first without
indicating to the participants where they are located in the virtual setup and a
second run, where they got visual feedback on their virtual position.
The experiment was repeated for six different recording techniques, that captured the Mozart performance simultaneously [2].
