We highlight recent developments and approaches in the ResearchObject.org community. Research Object, originally proposed in  and since developed and expanded on , is a framework by which the many, nested and contributed components of research can be packaged together in a systematic way, and their context, provenance and relationships richly described. Research Objects (ROs) define ontology-based mechanisms for richly describing the contents of container manifests, and the relationships between them.
