Six sentences on the topic phrasal verbs in Akan: explanation of the transcription system and orthography.


Six sentences in Akan Twi Asante were recorded during elicitation session 2.1. on 19.06.2018 between 15:00 and 16:00 p.m. They are dedicated to the following topic: usage of phrasal verbs (emu) ye den, (emu) ye duru and (emu) ye hare. 

The eaf. file with the recording (ELAKAN 2.1.) of six sentences includes the following information: the number of the sentence (Nummer-Tier), an approximate transcription, made intuitively (Transcription-Tier), spelling of the sentences, written by the informant (Orthographie-Tier), partial morphological analysis (Morphologie-Tier) and the german translation of the sentences that were given to the informant in English (Übersetzung-Tier). Two more tiers (Kommentar1-Tier and Kommentar2-Tier) contain additional information on grammar and phonetics and are not filled for all sentences. Kommentar2-Tier also includes six English sentences, uttered by the conductor of the session, and the introductory information about the elicitation session: date and time of the session, participants and the unique identifier of the session.  All comments on phonetics, spelling and grammar either include links to the resource of the given information, or are taken from Christaller’s Grammar of the Asante and Fante Language called Tschi (1875) or from the Asante-Twi learners' reference grammar by D. Adu-Amankwah, (2003). 

The transcription system and orthography used while analyzing the records is the same as the one used to analyze the wordlist, see "Introductory materials Akan Twi Asante"
