Orient w Oświeceniu. Polski kontekst

Description

The age of Enlightenment was signified by a extensive development of science, including historiography, philosophy and philology, that is also an interest in the Orient. Almost mythical and legendary East had become an object of real research. We might look for the Orient in the writings of eastern delegates but also in the testimionies of Polish intellectuals, for example the expedition of the count Jan Potocki to Turkey and Morocco and courageous and ambitious figures which an example of is Regina Salomea Pilsztyn. The orientalism of Enlightenment had left a rich lexical level and linguistic borrowings but also visions related to the countries of the Orient. It cannot be denied that many of them had survived until today.
