In this paper the peculiar relationship among Bergson and Spinoza is analyzed by the help of three sources. The history of philosophy excursus in the Creative Evolution, and two Bergson’s lessons. In the first source Bergson criticizes Spinoza’s philosophy stating that it is an expression of traditional metaphysics; in the lessons, instead, we observe an assonance with the philosophy of duration (intuition, possible-real, virtual, causality). Reflecting on the relationship between Bergson and Spinoza represents one of the many steps toward a radical reading and a more complete understanding of bergsonism.
