York Defamation Causes 1660-1700

Data on defamation causes in the city of York, 1660-1700, based on research for my MA thesis ('Gender and defamation in York, 1661-1700: reputation, authority and the power of words', U. of York 1999).
The original list was compiled in 1999 from the paper indexes then available in the Borthwick Institute, and has more recently been checked and updated using the online York Cause Papers database (http://www.hrionline.ac.uk/causepapers/)
I plan to add more of the research material including transcripts of depositions and links to the cause papers databases in the coming months.
