Study for g-mode oscillations in the Sun using solar neutrino with Super-Kamiokande


Super-Kamiokande (SK), a 50 kton water Cherenkov detector in Japan, has stably accumulated solar neutrinos over 20 years. With the long operation, SK has chance to search for periodic signals in the observed data.

The Sun does oscillate around its equilibrium state because of its restoring forces. The internal gravity modes, g-modes, may locally affect the electron density in the core of the Sun and result in the rise of temperature. Since a nuclear reaction of Boron-8 is proportional to the temperature in the core, T^(24-25) [K], the production rate of the Boron-8 neutrino is periodically amplified by a factor of 170.

In order to search for the periodical enhancement of Boron-8 solar neutrino due to g-modes, we performed the periodic analysis using the solar neutrino data in SK with Rayleigh power method according to the past study performed by SNO collaboration. In this poster, the result will be presented and discussed with the past study.
