We assume that the available information given in\nthe problem is uncertain so it is necessary to use interval\nnumbers. Therefore, we suggest a new type of hybrid\naggregation called uncertain induced generalized hybrid\naveraging (UIGHA) operator. It is an aggregation operator\nthat considers the weighted average (WA) and the ordered\nweighted averaging (OWA) operator in the same formulation.\nTherefore, we are able to consider the degree of optimism of\nthe decision maker and grades of importance in the same\napproach. By using interval numbers, we are able to represent\nthe information considering the best and worst possible results\nso the decision maker gets a more complete view of the\ndecision problem. We develop an illustrative example of the\nproposed scheme in the selection of students in\ninterdisciplinary studies. We see that with the use of the\nUIGHA operator we get a more complete representation of the\nselection problem. Then, the decision maker is able to\nconsider a wide range of alternatives depending on his\ninterests.
