Baluchis are one of the largest Iranian-speaking peoples. They inhabit a significant area in West Asia, historically called Balochistan. Balochs' ancestors originally lived in northern Iran on the south-eastern coast of the Caspian Sea. At present, Baluchis live in Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan. Remains of the tribal organization have survived to the present day in Baloch. Most of this ethnos is engaged in agriculture. In Pakistan, Baluchi are considered to be a politically active ethnic group, which has a great influence on the policy of this state. The Baluchi language is included in the northwestern subgroup of the Iranian languages. However, many features of the Baluchi language bring it closer to the eastern subgroup of the Iranian languages.
