MANTRA is an online training course which provides guidelines for good practice in research data management. This release presents the learning units and practical data handling tutorials available on the MANTRA site as of October 2017. The course content is applicable to all research disciplines and is particularly appropriate for postgraduate students and early career researchers who work with data and would like to learn more about managing their research data.

The online course includes eight online units and one set of offline (downloadable) data handling tutorials. The eight online units are as follows:

3. Organising data
4. File formats & transformations
5. Documentation, metadata & citation
6. Storage & security
7. Data protection, rights & access
8. Sharing, preservation & licensing

These learning units were created using Xerte Online Toolkits 2.x, and each unit is provided here in 2 formats:

- as a SCORM 2004 3rd edition format zip archive;
- as a complete backup (including offline editing and round-tripping back to toolkits or sharing with other Xerte users).

The accompanying data handling tutorials are provided as zip files containing pdfs and data files. The user must have access to the relevant software to use them, and should have a basic knowledge of the software package.
