VIRTIGATION is a multi-actor project aimed at developing bio-based solutions to tackle emerging viral diseases caused by begomoviruses (whitefly-transmitted) and tobamoviruses (mechanically transmitted) in tomato and cucurbit crops. The most threatening viruses which are currently becoming widespread are the begomoviruses ToLCNDV (Tomato leaf curl New Delhi Virus) and TYLCV (Tomato yellow leaf curl virus), as well as the tobamovirus ToBRFV (Tomato brown rugose fruit virus).
This community is under construction, but provides a space for future sharing of material related to viral diseases in tomatoes and cucurbits.
As for now, this community is only for partners of the EU-funded H2020 project VIRTIGATION - Emerging viral diseases in tomatoes and cucurbits: Implementation of mitigation strategies for durable disease management. This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under Grant Agreement No. 101000570.
By the end of the project, it is expected that the community will be open to the broader scientific and industrial community engaged in fighting viral diseases in tomatoes and cucurbits, in order to share and promote synergies with relevant stakeholders.
