This policy applies to all materials submitted for inclusion to the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) Ocean Observatories Initiative (OOI) Zenodo Community. Although, curation steps and handling of files for long-term uses and access is controlled by Zenodo, this policy outlines the submission criteria used for acceptance in the community.
Zenodo’s general policies and Terms of Use apply to all content.
Scope
The NSF OOI Zenodo Community accepts all digital research objects (i.e., code, data, publications etc.) which are directly related to the OOI, or it has utilized data provided by the OOI Facility.
Review and Moderation
All submissions undergo curation checks for compliance with the policy.
To be accepted, a submission must adhere to the FAIR Data Principles and provide a minimum amount of metadata as outlined below for various (not all) cases:
Titles: Titles need to be clear providing a description of the content of the material posted (i.e., github paths or file names are not allowed as titles).
Finalized data: Datasets must be in a complete, final, and publishable state. Products constructed from raw data should clearly identify the raw data, provide references to, and describe the methods used. For not ASCII-Text or Microsoft Excel data files an example code in Matlab, Python, R and/or other widely used programing language should be included.
Code: Code submission must include comprehensive documentation (e.g., codebooks, technical notes, variable descriptions) and sufficient metadata to provide context for reuse by non-experts. Dumping of raw code without appropriate explanation and working examples is discouraged as it does not allow wide use by the community.
Peer reviewed literature: Manuscripts should be related to OOI activities or have used OOI served data. Reference to the OOI data used is strongly encouraged.
Technical Reports / Other documentation: The link to NSF OOI facility should be clearly explained.
Updates
The content and curation policy is subject to change by the community owner at any time and without notice, other than through updating this page.
