KI-TIERWOHL is an interdisziplinary project (spokesperson: Prof. B. Vollmar, Rudolf-Zenker-Institute for Experimental Surgery (IEC) of the Rostock University Medical Center) with cooperating partners all over Mecklenburg-West Pomerania. The project focuses on the development of innovative methods for the automated, contactless recording of animal welfare using image processing, bioacoustics and sensor technologies. State-of-the-art AI-supported analysis methods are used to enable an objective and evidence-based assessment of animal welfare in research and agriculture.
The project combines the scientific expertise of leading local partners from the life sciences, engineering and social sciences and is funded by the European Regional Development Fund of the European Union as part of the ERDF programme 2021 to 2027 of the state of Mecklenburg-West Pomerania.
