This community is for curating and making accessible large 'static' files that are often generated during data processing and analysis that others are interesting in accessing. These file sizes preclude them from being included as supplementary data attached to research papers. Yet, it can take weeks or even months to curate the data to make these files. One example, is the 'vcf' file. This file format contains: all of the information about differences between multiple individuals and a common reference sequence; all of the information about the quality of the information used to determine variants; and all of the information about the variant itself.
Many researchers keep these files 'on hand' for 5 to 10 years to ensure that others who may need these files have access. The files are in simple text. Curated by University of Florida Libraries.
