On May 2006, the European Commission officially designated the French agency for food, environmental and occupational health safety, ANSES, as the European Union Reference Laboratory (EURL) for Listeria monocytogenes.
The activities of the EURL are handled by ANSES's Laboratory for Food Safety.
Regulation (EU) 2017/625 defines the role and duties of the European Union Reference Laboratories. The EURL for feed and food shall be responsible for the proper use by the National Reference Laboratories (NRL) of the methods set down in the Commission Regulations. Commission Regulation (EC) No 2073/2005 lays down the microbiological criteria for Listeria monocytogenes
The EURL Listeria monocytogenes base is a curated, open repository dedicated to its output production.
EURL Listeria monocytogenes is co-funded by the European Union.
