OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE IS a key ingredient of modern science. Hundreds of software packages, libraries, and applications have become essential tools and are critical to the work scientists do every day. The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative funds these essential tools and the people that maintain them through the Essential Open Source Software for Science (EOSS) grants. This is a collection of presentations from EOSS grantees and participants of the kickoff meeting of the program hosted in Berkeley, USA on February 24-27, 2020 and the second convening (online) on December 8-10, 2020.
