Basionym: Eugenia foetida var. rhombea O.Berg (1856: 212).

EOO: 1,139,836.067 km ². AOO: 236 km ². Evaluation of IUCN: Least concern.

Eugenia rhombea has a wide distribution in the American continent from Florida (United States), Mexico to Venezuela, in addition to the Antilles (WCSP, 2020). The estimated extent of occurrence (EOO) and its area of occupancy (AOO) based on the habitat available, fairly exceeds the thresholds for a threatened category under the criterion B. Eighty collection records were found from Mexico to Nicaragua, mainly in regions with a hot climate and areas of Humid and Seasonally Dry Tropical Forest from 18 to 1,800 m elev. For this reason, Eugenia rhombea is classified as Least Concern (LC) (BGCI & IUCN 2019h).
