Five years ago, Junior Macklin was a seminary student in Austin, Texas.
His wife, Barbara, was a homemaker.
Their twin sons, Devin and Darren, were just starting preschool.
Barbara had recently started therapy for her sudden onset of depression.
She could learn that her sons would most likely always suffer from infantilism.
So when you first heard the diagnosis of infantilism, what did you think, what did you do?
I got down on my knees and prayed.
Good God, I prayed so hard for help, for answers, for anything.
Then one night it happened. I met a starry man.
Hallelujah for my starry man. Good God. Wow.
One night, while taking out the trash, Barbara noticed an unusual orb-like object floating around the backyard.
Suddenly, it came closer and spoke to her.
Not fear me, human. I am from planet stars. I mean you no harm. I want to help you. Let me help you.
Barbara had recently started taking a low dosage of an antidepressant.
She thought she was hallucinating.
So she ignored the object and went inside her home and took some sleeping pills and went to sleep.
The next night, the orb came back.
Then it transformed into a man right in front of her.
For the next several weeks, Barbara and the starry man had a daily appointment by the trash cans.
Barbara said there was just something so special about that man from stars. She even thought she loved him.
When the starry man said it was time for him to return to his home planet, Barbara was devastated.
She was just beginning to feel alive again. He was so good to her and he was great with her twin boys.
He said she could come with him. He told her there was a cure for infantilism on stars and that if she wanted,
she could even regenerate her body to whatever shape she desired.
Barbara agonized over what to do. She did not want to hurt her husband. He was in seminary school.
However, Barbara decided it would be best if she left and went to stars.
So where did it happen? It happened out here. I had just taken out the trash and I was at my wits end.
You know I had increased my bus size by nearly four sizes since I started breastfeeding the boys?
Wow. I've been breastfeeding for nearly five years straight.
That's unbelievable. I never felt so bad. My back could take no more.
I didn't know you'd have some mercy on me, Lord.
Barbara, her husband, Jr. and the twins would take daily 15 mile walks to the church.
Jr. even made a special baby carrier for Barbara. He called it the double D hammock for Devon and Darren.
Since the starian man came to town, Barbara had stopped complaining about the walks.
Jr. noticed the change, but he only figured that Barbara had a newfound peace with the Lord's plan.
Barbara wanted to tell Jr. about the starian man, but she feared Jr. would try to stop her.
I felt like I had no choice. I mean, I started fearing for my life.
I knew I would not be able to last much longer nursing my lawyers away I did.
I imagined my life five, ten, twenty years down the road while I dragged my sagging body parts behind me
as I walked my adult son's to nursery school. I worked down. I was in mental agony.
I mean, I had to leave. I knew it in here was the Lord's plan. Lord's plan.
In an effort to alleviate mental anguish and stress, depressed people often learn to restructure or reframe upsetting situations in a more positive light.
In this way, someone like Barbara is better able to explain a difficult choice in a more constructive way, which helps to encourage a balanced mindset.
How come you didn't just consider a reduction surgery or maybe changing over to regular?
Puss your mouth, honey. Ain't nothing better than mother's mouth. Plus, my husband forbid the surgery. He said it was against the Lord's plan.
It's your body, though. Yes, but I'm his wife. And we had enough stress with the boys and everything.
What if there was a mistake in the operation? What if I didn't make it out of the surgery?
I knew my husband couldn't handle the boys on his own. Good God, he was in seminary school.
I would never have done that to him. Yeah, but you did eventually leave him and you left him for an alien.
An alien from a planet called Starz. But it was free. And I needed all the help I could get. Remember?
Wait, wait. What happened to the Starzian man? I know that you're fine now and everything, but what happened?
Well, you were away. How are the boys now? Where are they now?
While on Starz, Barbara met with starian utero mind consultants. She was advised to cry and tantrum whenever she became angry or confused.
In this way, Barbara was told that she could gain control over her body's health.
Instead of holding onto fears, the crying would be an immediate release of emotional toxins, which in some humans, like Barbara, can be stored in breast tissue.
Herbs and food also affect the immune system. Starian culinary academies are renowned for their use of herbs to promote wellness and to cure disease.
In fact, Barbara attended the Lorbeer School of Advanced Culinary Medicinal Studies during her stay on planet Starz. In addition to learning about alternative and herbal medicines, Barbara even briefly apprenticed at Shea Larresse, one of Starz's most famous restaurants.
This is where she learned about slow cooking. So what was Barbara's favorite slow cooking recipe? Lime beans cooked with a bay leaf.
The night Barbara and her twin sons left for planet Starz was a balmy evening in July. The starian man agreed to meet them at the usual place.
He explained that they would feel and see nothing as they exited Earth and landed on Starz.
Junior came home early that night. He had received a perfect score on his final seminary school exam.
Junior knew he'd been distant towards Barbara and the boys over the last several months.
He raced home to tell Barbara how much he loved her and how somehow he knew everything was going to work out just fine.
But Junior found an empty house, Barbara's note, and a week's worth of food in the refrigerator.
While Barbara and the boys were away on planet Starz, Barbara's husband Junior wrote a book.
Junior's book, entitled Calling, details what his life was like before and after Barbara left him for her space odyssey.
There are even a few of Junior's favorite recipes thrown in.
Well, I'm going to read this little inscription that your husband J.R. Macklin wrote.
These are the things that Barbara used to cook for me when I was a man and she was my wife.
Is he a woman now? No, good God, girl. That's just what he used to say when we were first married.
Why are you crying? I'm depressed, clinically depressed. I haven't even paid attention.
Are you going to cook professionally in Starz at an alien culinary academy? So what's the problem? I'm a sinner. My husband doesn't know the half of it. I'm going to have to tell him the whole truth now.
But you don't have to tell him anything now. You can wait till I leave. Oh, I love my starian man. I want to go back. You do? You want to go back there?
No. Do you think you will go back there? No.
Well, I really enjoy talking to you and I like the recipe. It's great. So nice. What was it for? It was for lima beans. Oh, okay. It was the one for lima beans. I love to eat it back there.
There are a lot of nice ones to eat at night. Thank you. You're welcome.
Barbara's twin sons, Devon and Darren, were successfully cured of infantilism while on Starz. They are now fully functioning normal 10-year-old boys. Barbara reduced her bus size on Starz.
But upon returning to Earth, she decided to continue pumping and donating her breast milk to Moms on Patrol, a milk bank organization that stores breast milk for orphaned babies. She will do this for the next year.
Junior and Barbara attend weekly couples counseling at the church. Junior says their marriage is better than ever. Barbara says that although she often thinks about returning to Starz and her starian man, she now knows that her commitment to her husband and her boys on Earth is her true calling.
Barbara's twin sons, Devon and Darren, are now working on their marriage.
Barbara, who is now a part of Starz, is now a part of Starz and is currently a part of Starz.
