I'm someone who loves going to the footy, I love a beer, and I love speaking my mind
and having a forthright opinion, so in that way I'm quite proud to say that I'm a strong
woman.
Make Rebecca cry!
Rebecca, I'll tell you what, I've been in the Army now 24 years, and I have never seen
anyone quite like you.
She didn't want to be treated as a woman, she was a journalist, and she was fearless,
she was uncompromising.
Here we have actually got passion back on set of court.
My view is that Mitchell Pierce's contract should be torn up.
They're not playing good enough footy, it didn't perform to your best, 80 minutes of
what you'd have to call an ordinary football.
When you knew that Rebecca was writing an article about you or something you're involved
in, your pulse rate would go up slightly.
No fear, no favour, she just called it as it was, and she was prepared to do it, no matter
what the consequence was, she was all about the truth.
Some of them have threatened to maim me, to kill me, and that's why Laurie's been forced
to move into prop gym.
Well, I'm sorry, but you can be as much out of form quickly.
You may not always agree with what she'd written or said, but you knew that it was coming from
the heart.
She'd always like to take a bloke on and beat him.
She enjoyed the company of blokes, she enjoyed talking about sport.
She won dozens of awards, her writing was fabulous, it wasn't just tough and fearless.
What she did for young women journals in New South Wales and Queensland has truly broken
the glass ceiling.
Through efforts of Beck that my pathway has been made much easier.
That's what you admired about her, she was able to put her opinions across, but it never
affected her ability to be able to have a relationship.
Every time you walked into a room she had a wonderful energy about her.
From that hard exterior there was another side of it that not many of us really got
to see, but I'm very honoured and privileged that I did.
I think when someone's so strong and fearless you can't imagine them being vulnerable.
You wanted to go in and protect it, that would have been the last thing that she wanted.
A very public person who succeeded in maintaining her private dignity.
Someone was a symbol of a life lived as it was supposed to be lived.
She taught me with each special moment that even in disagreement we can find love and
sincerity and that when we speak with passion we are closer than ever to the truth.
She leaves a massive hole on this planet.
Obviously professionally she leaves it, but emotionally.
She was an absolute leader and not just in regards to agenda, just because she was good.
You'll never see another Beck, not like that, she was one of a kind.
And it's only fitting that we finish with some Beckisms.
Come on you gibberish, suck it up, go and have a glass of fish or a vino, go you good
thing, lots.
So I've reached the end, but for four words, rock on darling Beck.
