What's up everybody? My name is Jason. Today we're going to be talking about a DSLR
rig made by Kame TV. Now this rig is pretty much fully decked out. You get
yourself a DSLR cage, a matte box, follow focus, a couple rods, and this pretty much
will set you up for a tripod use. Now if you want to go around and use it as a
shoulder rig, you're going to have to buy some additional handles. Right now we
have the lampart handles attached to it as well as a shoulder pad and if needed
be probably some weights. Now there's a couple things with this with this rig
that's a pretty good value. At $900 you get a very solidly built DSLR cage. My
guess is it's made out of aluminum, CNC aluminum. You get a couple rods. The matte
box is not too bad. You also get some flags to attach to it so that you can
block out some lights. So the great thing about this DSLR rig is that it fits a
wide variety of DSLRs. Right now we have the Panasonic GH4 mounted inside. Of
course the 8.7s would fit and it fits all the way up to a 5D Mark III. One of
the unique features of this DSLR cage is it has a built-in lock port system. So
for the GH4 we have micro HDMI which is kind of a weak port to begin with. So what
it does is we can fit an adapter inside or just a straight cable and we can lock
it in place so that it doesn't yank out and or snap off if you're from the
Canon side. You have a mini HDMI and the great thing is is it's fully adjustable.
There's a knob right here. We can adjust this lock port up or down fitting to just
about any DSLR bodies that we have. The other unique feature is it actually has
some extra rod mounting areas. As you can see we've mounted two rods here. One of
them is holding our external monitor as well as one of our electronic follow
focuses and it's also the same on the other side. So if you need to mount any
extra accessories you have extra space to do so. And in my opinion I think having
these rods already mounted in is also a good safety option because if you do
drop the rig then that's you know one area that you can actually protect your
DSLR. This cage provides easy access to your SD cards here usually on this side.
However if you're coming from a GH4 and presumably the A7S the battery port on
the bottom seems like it was probably built for the 5D Mark III and it's
literally about maybe 0.2 millimeters off. I can't get the battery
compartment door open so that is one thing to consider when purchasing this
rig. One of the great features about the matte box is it actually swings open so
if you need to change the lenses quite quickly it's actually not that hard to
do so. It's just simply swing it open you have direct access to your lens.
So that's all the great features that you can get with this rig made by Kame TV.
