The
hawk, raptor, powerful bird of prey, predator. No matter what you call this bird, the one
thing we can all agree on is this. This bird is beautiful. Chances are, no matter where
you live, this bird is protected by federal law. In New Jersey, for example, it is illegal
to capture or kill a hawk, or to possess a hawk, alive or dead, without the proper permits
from both the state of New Jersey and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. So now you
know. This particular hawk was photographed in Georgia today. Do you know if there are
laws in Georgia or your state designed to protect this bird? At one time, all hawks
were considered to be cruel, wanton killers, harmful creatures. Now, of course, now that
we're better educated about our ecology and our environment, we know that they are not
wanton, cruel and harmful creatures, as were projected. They're beautiful, and they serve
a very important part to our ecology. As you watch this video, please consider sharing
information that you may have about this beautiful bird of prey.
