Hey y'all, hey all my followers, I'm glad you're watching, I'm glad you're following
me and to those who don't know who I am and are new to my segments, this is Rose, I am
the co-founder of McDonald Bookkeeping Service.
Hi, I hope you guys started to follow me like my page, like my videos would be great.
So today's segment is I'm going to do something a little different.
So for those who aren't familiar with me, I like to do a segment once a month on resources
and tools for small business owners to help them run their business and to grow their
business and my segments are growing your business money matters and this segment is
segment number five, but segment number five, it's called All About Us Bookkeepers.
All about the people in the financial industry and accounting industry and I thought I'd
have a little fun with this video just so you guys can see what we do, what happens
behind the scenes.
You know, for me personally, you know, as bookkeepers, we just have this wonderful schedule
laid out.
We think Monday I'm going to do this for this client and Tuesday for this client and I
have my whole week client day, which is going to be great.
I have something to do with every client every day and you can have two or three clients
and you've got your schedule just to perfection and you think it's going to work that way.
You've got your calendar all set to go and it's just looking good and then you just find
yourself, hmm, client A, I'm still waiting for that stuff for March in April and client
B, I'm still waiting for that stuff for March in May and then all of a sudden you'll get
this phone call, ring, ring, McDonald's bookkeeping, hi, oh, how have you been?
You know, I've been emailing you, have you been getting my emails?
Oh, really?
You get clients like that?
Oh, oh, you're trying to get a loan, oh, okay, uh-huh, oh, well, you know, I'm still waiting
for your March data and it's May, yeah, uh-huh, and you need it but went tomorrow, oh, tomorrow,
oh, okay, yeah, really, no, you can't do that, I mean, why do we get those calls?
You're emailing your clients and you're just thinking, hey, I need your stuff, I need your
financial, I need your big statements, I need your receipts, stop it, people, stop it, do
you know, it drives us nuts, really just throws us off schedule.
Do you think that we just, hmm, look at this, let me drop everything for you, come on now,
you know, sometimes we just need that sweet cup of coffee, I think I used to have probably
about four or five of these a day, I mean, a coffee, I totally have to wean myself off
because I mean, I was like on crack, coffee on crack, I mean, I'm just up, just dropping
everything, literally, see that, see that, let me drop everything for you, why I'm just
swinging on coffee all the time, totally had to go to pour, she won't even give me coffee
anymore, that's my coffee spot by the way, she won't even give me coffee anymore because
I was totally just like doing just, let me tell you, I have the shakes, I had to be weaned
off, now she's got me other stuff, so hey, stop that, we don't just stop everything for
you guys, okay, can you see that, all right, help us out, we like to stay on the schedule
just like you want to stay on the schedule, okay, stuff like that, you know, and the thing
that I think amazes me the most is that we see your financials, we see your financials
all year, and then we ask for receipts and backup because we want to do the best job
that we can, you know, and we think that you're going to provide us with that stuff automatically,
just assume, why would we assume that you are going to provide us with valid information,
I mean, is that, is that not crazy, we're just crazy, right, we just think you're going
to give us like your purchase agreements when you purchase a new vehicle or something or
you have some loan agreement for something, of course we don't want that stuff, why would
we want that stuff to set up your financials correctly, right, we just going to look at
your bank statement and just guess because that's what we're doing, we're like, we're
spanking, you know, we guess it all, the things sometimes that we deal with, you know, we
would love to get things on time, all the time on a regular basis, and then when we
ask you questions, and we're like, hey, can you help us out with that, the expense, would
you use it for, would you buy it for, and then they don't get back to you for days and
days, and then they get their financials, and they're like, something doesn't look
right, hmm, hmm, did you get those last 10 emails I sent you asking you some questions,
I mean, oh my goodness, sometimes, let me tell you, bookkeepers, you know those people,
bookkeepers, you know who they are, we've all got them all the time, especially the
ones who think that they can do your job, but they're still asking you questions, you
know what I'm saying, you know, the ones that get you something, and it's like seven o'clock
at night, and your phone rings at seven o'clock at night, ring, ring, ring, oh, hello, oh,
no, no, um, I'm not busy, why would I be busy at seven, eight, or nine o'clock at night,
I don't know, are those office hours, oh really, oh okay, oh, well yeah, I'll check that email
right now, yeah, okay, we have office hours too, we want to adhere to you and help you
out, but we have office hours too, just like you, help us out, you know, we want a Monday
through Friday too, and sometimes maybe, you know, get a weekend off or so, you know, help
us out a little bit, but no, we just want to adhere and help our customers all the time
and our clients, that we will work and work and work all day and night, like me, the weekends,
seven, eight, nine, ten o'clock at night, working all the time, you know, and so for me, so
I have to wean myself off of coffee, what do I do for that energy burst, oh, my best
friend, jolly ranchers, jolly ranchers, us bookkeepers, you know, accountants, CPAs,
we all have our thing, if it isn't coffee, because we're dropping everything for you
all the time, oh, and we just love it, we love dropping everything for you, we love
our clients, okay, so we're going to drop everything for you, okay, so this is my drug
of choice, jolly ranchers, I'll pop two or three of these a day, like, I don't know,
this is my, my crack candy, jolly ranchers, some people have chocolates, some people
have M&M, you find yourself with something, just to keep you going, and sometimes you're
just looking at the computer, so long, you totally lose your vision, you're like, all
the numbers look the same, you get, you know what I'm saying, they all look the same, we
have those clients from working all night long, my favorite is when you see an expense
or some type of purchase on their bank statement or on their credit card, and you know it's
a personal state, it's a personal expense, and then you ask them about it and they'll
receive what it's for, and I said, well, is that going to be a draw, is that a personal
draw, you're spending personal expenses, and my favorite is, oh, I never spend money for
personal expenses, it's all business, but it's a yoga studio, they even went to Disneyland,
you know, and it's like, hmm, I guess that's a business expense, so I say, well, the yoga
studio, I said, did you buy a gift certificate for somebody, a credit gift, or did you have
a potential client that was there, so you guys did a yoga session together, or this
is my favorite, when you see them all over social media, and they're hanging out eating,
they're at some type of social gathering, just partying it up, they're at a concert,
and you're looking at their Facebook page, and you're like, oh dang, EDC, alright, okay,
you just went to the movies, and you're on the Facebook page, and stuff like that, no,
it's very far, what, you're up, and you're just going like, and then you look at that
bank statement, and you see those charges, and then they tell you, that's not a personal
expense, okay, do you really think you're fooling us, because if you can't fool the
rest, you're not fooling us either, cut it out, cut it out, we want to do good books
for you, stop trying to fool us you guys, stop trying to fool us, we know about that,
sometimes these clients get so outrageous, I don't even drink, I've never drank, but
you know what it causes me to do, take a swing or something like this, I just be so tempted,
I have this bottle, and I'm like, I don't drink, but some of these clients cause me
to want to open up this bottle and take a swing, you get what I'm saying, you bookkeepers
know what I'm saying, this is my favorite, is when they go from one bookkeeper to the
next bookkeeper, and they say, well she didn't let me do this, and she was wrong, and she
charged me this, and then the same bookkeeper, when they find out, because all they have
to do is see who you were paying, and then they call that other bookkeeper and say, hey
this is my client now, can you tell me what was going on, and then two months later they
call you and tell you, oh my god, now I see what you were dealing with, we talk to each
other, believe it or not, we talk to each other and we're just like, hilarious, my favorite,
is people who try to do the books on their own, now it's great when you have some know-how
and you're taking some classes or a training session, but then you hire a bookkeeper and
you contract one like us, and then you say, well I have this bookkeeper doing my books,
and you're looking at the books like, well who in the heck did your books like this,
it's a mess, and they blame it on the bookkeeper, and it was them, and you start to figure it
out, and you're like, hmm, okay, so you want to blame it on the imaginary bookkeeper, hilarious,
cut that out, we understand, but really cut it out, so anyway, I just thought I'd do a
quick session of my bookkeeping hilarious situations that happen that all of us bookkeepers
go through, so what I'm trying to say is, help us out, keep us on schedule, we work
long and hard to keep you on schedule, to work around your schedule, so what, we don't
want to have to drop everything for you, maybe sometimes, once in a while, but not all the
time, okay, give us a little bit of break here, you know, we don't want to get all cracked
out on, like I said, sugar, staying up all night, helping you out, give us a little
bit of break, because we're helping you out too, we love our client, I love my client,
my clients are the best, I'm sure better than most of your clients, but bookkeepers, sometimes,
oh, we need a little break, so anyway, just a quick mention of how crazy it is, I hope
you guys all have a great 2018, I'm looking forward to hopefully getting a vacation this
year, because bookkeeper is probably going to get a vacation, when can we take a vacation,
but we want a vacation too, because we see when you go on vacation, we see how you spend
your vacation money, so we want a vacation too, so anyway, everybody have a super, super
2018, be kind to your bookkeeper, bye.
