Good afternoon everybody, or good evening, right. Here we are at Keep It Hot once again.
This is 2009. Okay, now it's January. January 20th is going to be a very important day for
us. It is inauguration day for major change. Okay, Barack Obama is going to be sworn in
as President of the United States. Now check this out. We have something special for that
tonight. Now what we're going to do is we're actually going to make his favorite recipe
to cook at home. I mean, hey, the man's going to become president. Why not make his food?
Now what we're making tonight is Barack Obama's family chili recipe. Okay, now what we have
with bell pepper and onions, some garlic, chili powder, oregano, basil, turmeric, cumin,
tomatoes of course, red wine vinegar, a can of red kidney beans, and some olive oil. It's
a large green bell pepper. I'm going to go ahead and chop it up. Some nice, nice pieces.
We don't want pieces that are too big, but we don't want them too small either. Keep
in mind, the first things that are going to go into the pan with the olive oil are the
bell pepper, the garlic, which I'm going to kind of try to go ahead and mince up, then
the onion. And we're going to saute that stuff and saute it to the point where it gets soft
and then we're going to go ahead and add the ground turkey. The onions and the bell peppers
are starting to brown a little bit. Matter of fact, it is browning, so it's getting to
the point. Look, we're ready to put the meat in there. We'll go ahead and dump this whole
pound of ground turkey in there. While all this stuff is simmering right here, I'm going
to go ahead and start slicing these tomatoes. So what's happening, man? You all ready? You
all ready for this? Okay, don't worry. Trust me. I mean, this is going to be as good as
Obama's recipe. The ground meat, go ahead and start to brown. So I'm going to take this
mixture. Remember, this is the chili powder, the basil, the oregano, turmeric, and cumin.
Mix it all together. Go ahead and sprinkle it in the meat. I'm going to go ahead and
stir it up. And then what I'm going to do, I'm going to go ahead and dump all the tomatoes
that I cut up or chopped up and put them in here. And when these tomatoes start to cook
down, then we're going to start checking out the chili. Now, the recipe says to take this
chili and you go ahead and you put it over some white rice or preferably brown rice.
Since I didn't make any rice, we're just going to have it in nice bowls and we're just going
to tear it up. I'm going to go ahead and take this can of organic and red kidney beans.
Of course, another purchase from Farmer Joe's. Go ahead and dump them in here. Thanks a lot
for coming to check us out. Keep it hot.net. Always remember to do that.
