Hey, it's Kevin. Thanks for stopping by the video blog today. Today is something I don't do a lot of.
I guess you could call it product endorsement, but I'm not getting paid to endorse it.
I'm actually endorsing something that, well, I love so much.
Today, a movie that actually went and saw it twice over the summer.
I think I've probably seen four or five movies total over the year, but I actually saw this one twice.
And then it came out on video today or on DVD, excuse me. Let's get our technical terms right.
And I had to rush out to the old Best Buy and pick it up tonight.
I'm talking about the Rainn Wilson movie called The Rocker. It was in theaters this summer.
I'll be honest with you, I was kind of surprised and thought it would do much better in the theaters in terms of, you know, dollars it did.
Rainn Wilson, of course, plays Dwight Schrute from TV's The Office.
To me, had a scene-stealing cameo in the movie Juno.
And just somebody, I guess, I find him immensely funny in a bizarre, weird, quirky way.
So I was going to see it based on Rainn Wilson.
When I got there, finding out that Christina Applegate was in the movie, and I'll be honest with you,
I wasn't a big married with children fan with Christina Applegate, but I've loved some of the movies she's done.
I love her, Samantha. Who's show? We've talked about that in the past. So I was like, wow, I was excited to have her in it.
Emma Stone, who has done a couple of movies that I've enjoyed, she was in The House Bunny, which was, eh, okay.
But was actually in Superbad. She played the object of affection in Superbad.
I really enjoyed her performance. Pop singer, rocker, what, Teddy Geiger.
Former teen heartthrob, maybe? Was that being proper?
Plays the brooding artist in there. Jason Gads in the movie.
And actually Saturday Night Live's Jason Sudeikis plays a scene stealer as a record company executive that is just too funny.
Maybe that's kind of why I enjoyed it even more.
It talks about Cleveland. It's actually set in Cleveland, which, if you've lived in Northeast Ohio as long as I have,
there are things in there that'll make you laugh. And it's just, it's a cute 90 minutes.
If you're looking for that night, it's not a date night movie by any stretch of imagination.
But if you're looking for a cute movie to waste some time, well worth hopping out to your favorite video store, DVD,
wherever you pick up DVDs with it, I don't know if it's going to be in the big red box shed or anything like that.
But well worth 20 bucks to go out and I'll actually probably watch it tonight and watch it tomorrow and go through the special features.
The story of a 1980s rock drummer who they get signed to the big time contract only to find out he's been kicked out of the band
because the record company owner's son wants to play drums in this band.
Fast forward 20 years later, they're getting inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and his life has been pretty horrible.
He moves in with his sister and her family, lives above the attic and his sister's overweight son gets a gig playing the prom.
Their drummer falls out at the last minute, he has to be a drummer, hilarity ensues.
And it's a nice touching little story, very far fetched, yes.
But again, like I said, a nice waste of 90 minutes. It's got good rock music, it's just a funny movie.
So again, it's not often I say, hey, go out and do yourself a favor, but Rainn Wilson in The Rocker out your favorite DVD place today.
Just something I'd share. I think I'm probably going to go watch it right now. Have a good one. Talk to you tomorrow.
