I am Jost van Hake, project manager of the Biennale Interieur in Belgium.
Biennale Interieur is a biannual show and this year we run the 24th edition.
The unique identity of the Biennale Interieur is its mix between culture and commerce.
We have more than 250 brands on show and we have a large cultural program which is this year
curated by Joseph Grima of Space Caviar. We are in Domaine de Bois Boucher in France
where we run a workshop for the 20 selected winners of the Interieur Awards and the Objects category.
I'm Alessandro Scutirito, I work for Studio Minale Maeda and this is Keystones, a 3D printed
collector to build your own piece of furniture. My name is Lévi Dottier, I'm working with Sarah
De Camme. Together we have a studio called Lévi Sarah. This is our perimeter bookshelf,
a shelving system that we could expand or change. With this system we'll play with the planks and
with some different sheet metal to adapt it. I'm Livia Rossi of Studio Dosso Furito, the design studio
I founded with Gianluca Giobardo. This part is part of the fitofiler collection on which you can
put appendices that encourage the interaction and the observation of the plant. To lead the
workshop we have chosen Joachim Menekheim, a designer from Cologne in Germany. The workshop
is divided into two groups. On the one hand I'm helping the designers to work on their prototypes
to bring them to finished objects. My name is Alice and I'm from Paris. I am the youngest designer
here and I am 24 years old. For the competition I made a small lump in concrete and copper. At the
moment my products are just renders but here the workshop will help me to make my prototypes.
Just careful to not escape it now, yeah perfect. And there's another group that already finished
their prototypes and they work on the exhibition design for all the designers work at the Biennale
in Portrait. The final idea of the exhibition is to try to build an optical illusion for the visitors.
We have a huge strip it's really long so the idea was to have a single point of view where you
can see the final image of every project altogether in the circle. We are working together to really
try to make the exhibition about our objects and I think it's a good opportunity to show ourselves
in our way. We have been really stimulating to work together because you have 20 people with
very different attitudes and ways of thinking so it's really challenging but also really,
really beautiful. What we do here is something which no other festival or fair in the world
probably is doing and Biennale Interior is doing it because it's not for profit organization
and we want really to give chances and possibilities to a new generation of designers
to develop their work and to contribute in the future to the design industry.
